YouTube is a video hosting and social media site accessible to anyone anywhere in the world. However, this does not mean that all videos are viewable everywhere, if they are then the error message appears on the screen “This video has been blocked in your country by the user who is viewing it. ‘uploaded”.
Which is rather frustrating when you just want to watch a movie trailer or a music video. YouTube isn’t all about user-created videos, the platform also hosts licensed content, including movies and TV shows.
It also contains the YouTube Originals, programs specially designed to be broadcast on the online service. However, they are not in the same category as the blocked videos depending on your region, since you must have a YouTube Premium subscription to watch them.
What’s really annoying is when content is offered for purchase or rental, but it is viewable for free from another country. To overcome this obstacle, follow our tutorial.
Watch blocked Youtube videos with a VPN

The most reliable and efficient way to bypass the regional filter is to use a VPN (Virtual Private Network) service. The latter allows you to browse the web as if you were based in another country.
There are free VPNs out there, but we recommend paid ones like NordVPN, which we believe is the best in the market, so you’ll enjoy faster connections, more servers, and much better privacy protection. Before subscribing to it, we advise you to test its free version.
In order to view blocked YouTube videos from your country, install the VPN of your choice on your PC, Mac, or smartphone. Make sure it lets you choose the location of the server, which will give you safe access to the video (normally the country where the creator is based).
Now all you need to do is open your web browser again and go to the YouTube video you want to watch. YouTube now thinks that you are located in the correct country; the video should then start.
Depending on the VPN selected, the video may load a little slower or be of lower quality.
A VPN service is generally the fastest and easiest way to unblock YouTube videos.
Use a proxy to watch YouTube videos
If you don’t want to go through a VPN then your best alternative is to use a proxy server. It will have a similar result to VPN, since you will be able to browse as if you were in another country. However, it is less secure and does not encrypt your browsing, which is why we believe a VPN is better than a proxy.
If you just want to watch music videos on YouTube then encryption probably doesn’t matter to you. However, if you are trying to access videos from a country whose government forbids viewing, then VPN is definitely your best ally.
Like VPNs, there are free proxy servers, but they are often so limited that a paid service is more appropriate.
You will usually need to access the server through a browser extension. Again, make sure that the chosen server is located in a country where the video in question is accessible. Finally, all you have to do is go to YouTube.
Download YouTube video
If both of our techniques failed then why not download the YouTube video, then you will avoid geo-restrictions.
Remember that while it is not illegal to upload videos to YouTube, it is technically against Google’s terms of service, and it is arguably immoral since you are bypassing advertisements that help fund the site and its content.
