How to remove a virus from an iPhone?

Viruses are rare on iOS devices, so your iPhone or iPad is unlikely to be infected. However, they can become vulnerable when they are unbridled. So, when your Apple smartphone acts in an unusual way, it could simply be due to an app malfunction.

However, if you are in doubt and believe that a virus is rife, then follow this tutorial and our tips on how to fix the problem.

How to know if a virus is present on my iPhone?

Technically speaking, a virus is code that enters a system. It then tries to spread by interfering in your messaging or social media apps.

When prone to bugs in use, they automatically redirect you to websites or the Apple Store without your permission, or display pop-ups without your permission.

Even the most secure iOS apps and development kits can fall victim to malware.

Harmful apps are usually detected before they are uploaded to the App Store. However, there are times when unlocked iPhone users accidentally install apps from other sources that turn out to be unsafe.

In any case, the iOS sandbox (a computer environment in which code is tested without affecting the affected application) should prevent viruses from accessing other applications and the system.

Before deleting them, ask yourself the following two questions:

Have you unlocked your smartphone or tablet using an unofficial app?

If so, then it is possible that a virus is present on your iPhone. It is therefore recommended to uninstall the app in question.

Are any of your apps bugging?

If the answer is yes, then it could well have been hacked. In this case, it must also be uninstalled.

Despite this, your iOS is still not working properly? The problem may then be with the hardware.

The origin of the problem can be traced with a utility designed for iOS, such as Bitdefender Mobile Security. It protects you from malware, gives you web protection, VPN, remote data lock and wipe.

A corrupted application can be the cause of the problem

It is possible that a faulty app is causing your iOS to suddenly malfunction. Always keep in mind that just because an app is legal, or created by a reputable company, doesn’t mean it is safe from hacking.

Indeed, hackers tend to operate more on the development kit than on the operating system itself. This kit can then be used by well-intentioned but reckless developers … By such a process, they have the opportunity to redirect you to a questionable site when you use the app in question.

To avoid this kind of trouble, it is recommended to uninstall the application without ever reinstalling it. In parallel, we advise you in particular to see if any updates exist, and if corrections are made to them.

Solutions to counter piracy of your iPhone

Discover 5 tips to overcome the malware that has become embedded in your iOS.

1. Clear history, site data from Safari

To avoid automatic redirects, here is a little trick to follow:

Go to Settings → Safari → Clear history, site data, then tap Clear.

2. Shut down and restart

In order to fix the small bugs on your iPhone, restarting your device can be the solution.

If you have an iPhone X or later, press Power and Volume simultaneously. For earlier models, simply hold down the Power button.

When the Apple logo appears, release the pressure, then wait until you are prompted for your password, before entering it to unlock your device.

If none of that works, then you will have to move on to more drastic measures, like a restore and reconfiguration.

3. Restore your iPhone from a backup

If you regularly make backups of your iOS, then it will be easy for you to restore your iPhone from them. To do this:

  • Go to your Settings.
  • Tap [your name], then tap iCloud.
  • Go to Manage Storage, then Backups.
  • Select your listed device to view the date and size of its last backup.

Then, still in Settings:

  • Go to General.
  • Choose Reset, then tap Erase all content and settings.
  • Once your iPhone turns back on, from the options offered, select Restore from iCloud.
  • Sign in to iCloud using your Apple ID.
  • Finally, choose your backup.

4. Configure your iPhone as a new device

If your backup is too old, or contains a virus, then you will have no choice but to start from scratch.

Be aware that this is an irreversible process, therefore, it is essential that you make a backup of your personal data before you start.

Then, as explained in the previous tip, to erase the content of your smartphone, go to Settings → General → Reset → Erase content and settings. And enter your password to validate the operation.

5. Protect your iPhone from viruses

To avoid viruses and protect your iPhone or iPad, always update it.

Do not jailbreak iOS and be vigilant about download sites for applications and programs. Only open links that you are sure are safe.
