iOS 14.5 New Features and Release Date
In September 2020, iOS 14 was released first before the iPhone 12 was launched. Since then, new Apple mobile system versions with new features and corrections of bugs have been released once a month. On January 26, the latest version — iOS 14.4 — was released.
iOS 14.5 is probably coming later this month; the beta version of the developer is currently available. The newest version of Apple, iOS 14.5, has been released as a beta developer. This means that you need a developer account for Apple, that you can test and possibly have a number of bugs since Apple still works on it before it is released.
Apple does not publicly advertise the release of a new version of iOS, but we can follow some indications. Since the beta development of iOS 14.5 was released on Feb 1, and releases were released about once a month, we can expect to see the final release of iOS 14.5 sometime in February.

Apart from the beta developer, Apple generally releases a public beta for the newest version of iOS. However, that did not apply to iOS 14.5. We might see or not at all a public beta next week, according to MacWorld. Even if you’re available, betas are usually buggy: it is best not to load them on your primary phone.
How to download iOS 14.5
You should get an immediate message when it is released that iOS 14.5 is now available and ask whether you wish to download it. Or you can do the following:
- Open the Settings app.
- Select General.
- Tap Software Update.
Your device connects and prompts you to download and install the update to Apple’s servers. Follow the installation instructions. The iOS 14.5 is up and running when your device reboots.

iOS 14.5 New Features
The latest version of iOS is going to bring several useful new features, including:
1. Use Face ID to unlock your iPhone Device
The owners of the Apple Watch can choose a feature that enables you to use Face ID to unlock your iPhone, even if your face is obscured by a mask. The Uhr offers haptical feedback to make sure your iPhone is unlocked.
2. Set a default music player of your choice
You may no longer need Apple Music to become your default music player. Instead, you will list all the music streaming services that you installed on your device when you first ask Siri to play something. Simply select the default player you want, for example, Spotify. The update was first spotted by Reddit users exploring iOS 14.5’s beta versions and reported Monday by MacRumors.
3. Stream Fitness Plus workouts with AirPlay
Apple Fitness Plus users can stream training to AirPlay 2-compatible TVs and devices directly from iOS 14.5 or WatchOS 7.4.
4. App tracking transparency
iOS 14.5 includes changes to the privacy of applications requiring user permission to track data and activity in advance. This builds upon a modification released in iOS 14.3 that allows you to see which data applications are collected before downloading them.
5. Dual-SIM 5G global support
iPhone 12 users have dual SIM support globally, so you can use physical SIM and digital eSIM slots to have two service lines on the same phone. Previously, this support was only available in China.
6. Siri updates
You will see a three-second countdown, giving you an option to cancel a request. Siri can now call 911 with an instant of “Hey, Siri.
7. Console controller support
The update allows Apple to add PS5 and Xbox Series X controller support for iOS and iPadOS to allow games to be played on your phone or tablet.
