4 Ways Apps Are Changing Our Everyday Lives
Smartphone and tablet applications have become so ingrained in our daily lives that you probably use one to start and end your day. Everything is now available in app form, including a daily planner, guided meditation, fitness, food delivery, wallet and finance, recipes, to-do lists, and sleep tracker.
Companies used to commission desktop apps, and you’d go to your workplace and use the company’s bespoke platforms. With the rise of remote work, app development has shifted to the web and mobile platforms. It took a while for businesses to realize the benefits of having apps and how they can utilize them for both internal and external purposes, but it has gradually evolved into a win-win situation for both businesses and customers – things get done faster and life is (hopefully) simpler.

Integration of hardware
Our daily activities have never been so simple. We now have smart lighting, smart locks, and even smart vacuums that can now run according to preset schedules and a continually updated map of your home’s layout thanks to hardware integration. Even plants benefit from integration: with just a few touches, you can set up a lighting schedule for indoor types and monitor water levels in your garden.
Every little processor and component within our phones and other mobile devices is constantly improving, not only to adapt to our changing needs, but also to set new standards. When you think about it, that camera you used to take a shot of your dog, or brunch (or your dog during brunch), or the security camera you put in your entryway is a product of incredible creativity.
In one of my podcasts, I chatted with Brad Weber of InspiringApps, a company that has developed solutions for “greater visibility into operations out in stores, with the capacity to take photographs and data about what’s actually happening on shelves,” as he explained it. That’s incredible. If you work from a corporate office or manage a business remotely from your home, you’re unlikely to see that.
In addition, augmented reality (AR) is quickly becoming a norm in cameras. It can distinguish items in the environment and assist you with a variety of tasks, like mapping your location and employing geotags for targeted marketing.
Using apps for customer service and communication
As a result, app development is on the rise, especially in the aftermath of a pandemic, when businesses are scrambling to meet the expectations of a new client profile. And these days, effective customer service and communication are not confined to a single demographic; everyone expects good service and timely, clear information from the businesses with which they do business. Apps make providing this level of service easier and more efficient.
Mobile websites are no longer sufficient. Customers log in with their contact information so they don’t have to bother about following support requests, orders, or queries from their desktop. Apps are just more dependable, personalized, and convenient (or notepad). Push alerts from applications help with marketing campaigns on the business side.

Business processes simplified
Weber also mentioned that in the past, if you worked for a large corporation, you might have had process-heavy operations, “to the point where you were focused more on process than on really getting things done.” This is rapidly changing for the better. These larger companies can now respond to client needs much more swiftly, as they should, but smaller startups and disruptors can also use applications and technology.
We can sense the improvements that have occurred as a result. Almost all banks, for example, now offer mobile apps. If you’re looking to buy a house, you may use a variety of mobile apps to help you with the process, from looking at houses in a specific location to making appointments with agents to scheduling a property inspection… all from the convenience of one app.
Mobile apps also make it easier for businesses to monitor their processes from a distance. You can simplify and track tasks and procedures, and enable your staff to work individually or in teams, whether you have a custom build or utilize an existing software.
Apps are the future
Today’s technology allows us to operate practically everything remotely, including unlocking and starting our cars, viewing the contents of our refrigerators, and so on. These now-ubiquitous amenities seemed unthinkable only a few years ago, yet they are now a reality. And, while huge platforms concentrate on “super apps,” today’s generation simply switches from app to app based on what they need to do. (Take, for example, Facebook’s intentions for Meta.)
More and more businesses are realizing the value of apps in terms of business development. So, how about you? What apps do you use to help your company grow? What advantages will a bespoke app provide for your company?
